Got Issues with Bad Wine? Try This One!
You should know I’m not speaking from personal experience when passing on information about the NewAir 18 bottle wine cooler, but I believe I can speak on behalf of my dad who (in my opinion) is the most trusted man on planet earth!
I can’t remember when he first started to take an interest in wine and how it should be kept, but I think it might have something to do with a disaster that happened at a huge family gathering one Thanksgiving when every bottle he brought up from the basement appeared to have gone bad (my sisters and I told him about wine coolers before, but I guess he had to experience this to believe us).
Anyway, less of how embarrassed he was on that day and more on what he had to tell me about the NewAir AW-181E. First of all, he didn’t make a point of telling me he had bought a wine cooler. You know how it is when you back to the home where you were brought up? You get used to all the sounds and smells that remind you of growing up.
Well, on one visit I was walking by the kitchen and I heard a low hum that sounded unfamiliar. When I asked what it was, I was casually told “oh, that’s just the wine cooler”. I stepped into the kitchen to see this new “gadget” that had taken root in my family home and couldn’t find it at first.
Dad followed me in and I asked where it was. He pointed to a space that had been made beside the fridge and there it sat! It blended in so well with the chrome colored fridge that I hadn’t even spotted it. What I did notice when it became obvious was the lovely looking blue LED light on the display and how it illuminated the inside of the cabinet (what can I say, us girls like pretty lights).
Inside there were about a dozen bottles of wines neatly lying on their sides (it can hold 18 bottles) and there were both reds and whites in there. Not being the technically minded one in the family I soon grew a little bored when dad (as they do) started going on about how the temperatures can be selected and how it’s not good for certain wines because it’s only single zone. But, he did say it was perfect for keeping his wines at just the right temperature and then made some comment about how useless the basement was.
Anyway, to cut a long story short although my attention was brought to this little cooler because I heard it first, I think it’s a great buy simply because people will be talking about how good the wine was at Thanksgiving dinner instead of reminding everyone how bad it was last time!
So, aside from the looks (I even rated it the “Best Looking Wine Cooler!”) I can’t give you a lot of information on the Newair AW-181E. But I’m sure a lot of personal customer reviews HERE at Amazon.com will help you further.
Talking about looks… another great option is of course an in-built wine cooler. These are a little harder to find, but there’s a great 18 bottle in-built wine cooler available: the Whynter BWR-18SD.
And in case you prefer dual zone cooling, I would suggest you to take a look at my review on the Avanti 18 Bottle Dual Zone Cooler, which will give you great value for money.
